Is transit visa required?

My daughter will be travelling to New Zealand from London with Air New Zealand in January.

The flight lands in Los Angeles for a stopover but she will be continuing to Auckland as a transit passenger without actually entering the USA.

She has a full UK Citizen passport. What are the visa requirements please?
