Hi,
I am in a tricky situation. I applied for post completion OPT before defending my phd thesis. My OPT expired three months ago and I was not eligible for the STEM extension. Is it possible to apply for reinstatement to F1 status since I still have to defend my thesis. Does anyone have any experience with this situation? I do not mind traveling home for a new sevis number if necessary. I am trying to figure out my options before I hit the 180 days out of status limit.
