  • Got a job offer - can I expedite my OPT application?

    Hi all,

I received a job offer with starting date 9/27, but I don't think my EAD card (based on F-1 status and first one in my life) will arrive by then. The employer has already pushed back the date once for me and insists on the actual document before I can step into the office even for training. It's been 79 days since my NOA date. Has anyone used a job offer as a reason to successfully expedite their OPT application?

Also, I recently found out about InfoPass appointments and happen to live very close to the USCIS office handling my application. Do you think it'd help to meet with an officer in person?

I'd greatly appreciate any advice on how I could help myself because I'm getting really impatient and anxious ;-(

    Thank you so much!

    Here is my timeline...

July 1 - USCIS received date
July 5 - USCIS notice date
Sept 10 - I changed my mailing address when I moved for the job in question
Sept 19 - Int'l students' advisor emailed USCIS on my behalf -- "application is pending review"
Sept 22 - online case status is still "case was received"
    Day 79... no info!
