I am an international Master student, I was working as a research assistant during my study and taking only 6 academic credits in each semester. Therefore, I could not finish all my credits before my I-20 validity date was expired. My adviser asks the International student office to extend my I-20 for more one academic semester Fall 2010 in order to be done with my thesis. Currently, I got an offer from a company for work, I need to have a permit of work. I know that I have two options :
1) applying to OPT which take 2-3 months and I am not sure that the company will wait for me this time.
2) applying for CPT which takes only 7 days but the international office employee is saying that I am not eligible for CPT because I registered as full time student this semester.
What will be the best option for me?
your help is really appreciated
