I filed for asylum in 2003 and currently my case is infront of the immigration judge. My girlfriend filed for Asylum around end of June, 2012 and she was told to come back in two weeks for decision. When she went to get the result, she was told that it will take more time and she will be contacted in mail. We have been together for almost 5 years so we decided to get married on August 27th. Till that day we heard nothing from Asylum office regarding her case. However on August 31st, she received an approval letter from Asylum office which was a great relief. However the confusion is, on the notice, it says her case was approved on August 22nd but the notice was issued on August 30th. And the day we received that notice was on the 31st.
I asked my lawyer and she said she will request Asylum Office to change the date which according to my lawyer was denied. I am trying to find out if there is a way we can appeal this. Because the fact that the notice was generated on the 30th of August and we received on 31st of August proves the point that we were married before her decision. But on the notice her approval date is on August 22nd. If this can be fixed then it will help me withdraw my case.
I am not seeking judgemental advises so please be sensitive to our situation.
