  • Citizenship for Adopted Child

    Hi,
I got my U.S. Citizenship recently. If I adopt a child from India, I know that have to get a U.S. visa for the child. Could anyone let me know what I have to do to get U.S. citizenship for the adopted child ?
    Thanks in advance,

adopt a child from foreign country

Be ver y careful and research well. You must get approved by USCIS first..... I did not research well, I adopted a child in mexico, I just ''celebrated '' 5 years living in mexico with my adopted son while my husband lives in the states. I 600 , home visits, bios, etc have to be completed before you look for a child. Foreign adoptions are complicated. I am still living here and waiting for approval. Good luck

      USA citizen by birth

I was born in USA, but was given up for adoption and taken in by Childrens aid. Then adopted by a canadian family, what does that mean for me as far as dual citizenship and does my family get exempt from immigration stuff cause I am technically American??????? Help!!!!!
