  • Booked a visa appointment a few months back, but my visa details need to be updated

Hi all, I qualify for an O-3 visa as a dependent of my spouse, who is currently in the US on an O-1 visa. I had applied for a US visa interview a few months back in June of this year and got an interview date for October. Since then, my spouse's visa had to be renewed in August and her visa number, visa expiration date, etc have changed. There seems to be no way to now change these details for my visa interview and DS-160 without cancelling my existing appointment and booking a new one, which isn't gonna be available for another 5-6 months. Can I just show up to my visa interview in October and explain the situation to the immigration officer? Has anyone been in a similar situation before?

I think you should be okay , just bring the updated visa details and a new DS-160 with you to the interview. Many have done that before without canceling. Just explain it clearly to the officer. Good luck!

You should be fine — this happens quite often when the principal O-1 holder’s visa or petition gets renewed after a dependent has already submitted their DS-160. You don’t need to cancel your appointment.

What you can do is fill out a new DS-160 with your spouse’s updated visa details and then bring both the old and new confirmation pages to your interview. When you check in at the consulate, just let them know you’ve updated your form due to your spouse’s renewal. They’ll link the new DS-160 number to your appointment before processing.

Make sure you also bring copies of your spouse’s new O-1 visa, latest I-797 approval notice, and passport bio page. Many people have gone through the same thing and had no issues as long as they explained the situation clearly and had the updated paperwork ready.

don't know if you can still use this answer

Same thing happened to me when my spouse’s visa changed before my dependent interview. I simply took the updated O-1 approval notice (I-797) and passport copy showing the new visa. The officer made a note and processed it with no issue.
