  • B1 visa self employed - help!!

    Hello all ,

I find this forum really helpful . It's a good thing I found it very early before my interview . I have my interview on the 22nd of this month ..

    Ok my story below

I came from South Africa to uk to study bsc engineering. After my course I got a job with a firm . I worked for the firm for about 8 months . After which I opened my own limited company ) by the way I am not British obviously lol )

Now I am planing to go to New York for a 2 hours seminar and I plan to stay for 3 nights .

I have booked my hotel already for this three nights . I have no relatives in New York ..

    The question

As I have only just started this IT consulting company 6 months ago ... What documents do you think I carry alone .

On filling the ds -160 form , it says monthly income .. Since I am the only one in the company for now ... What do I say the income is ?

Thirdly , how many months statement of account do I show . Do I show the business account and my personal account?

Many thanks all ... I will be very gratefull to see replies . Thanks again

    You should have sought advice before applying;

Since it is a fledgeling company with no employees, and if
you donot have much income by way of turnover, not to discourage you,
it may be hard to get the visa.

Once denied, subsequent applications become more difficult, if not impossible, especially
    if applied with similar circumstance.

For a B1, I suggest you let your company grow,
hire some employees, show decent turnover before applying.

Income is very important for any B1/B2 whether it is tourist or business.

Common sense dictates that , Since your very purpose to visit is on behalf of your company
they will 100% want to see its turnover, and your income.
And a 6 month old company with one employee....NO NO NO.

Do not do it. It is a sure denial.
