  • URGENT: b1/b2 visa single entry with annotation

My brother has been granted US visa under b1/b2 category for 1 month with single entry with the annotation "to attend conferance September 16-18, Las Vegas, NV". With this said I wanted to find out if my brother would be able to come visit us first to jacksonville, Fl before attending the conferance and then go attend the conferance and return to India from there? Do you think this might be risky or create any red flag. His port of entry would be Newark or JFK since that is the connecting flight we see online. Please help

I think he should land close to his conference date , like 3-4 days before, so the officers know his main purpose is to attend the conference
    as per the annotation.

So, he will have to do the visiting with you after the event.

But then his conference is on September 16- 18 and his visa expires on September 20. He got the visa valid from August 22 to September 20. That's the reason I was thinking if he could come visit us before the conferance. He would still be coming only 3-4 days before the conferance and not any earlier than that. Please share your thoughts. Thank you

But would that not be like taking chances, since he wants to have the return tickets booked. Would it be safer for him to visit jacksonville for couple of days and then go to Las Vegas for his conference? Thank you for the response

I think he will be fine if he lands like a week before. Visa expiring on 20th has no relevance in his case because he will be landing before the conference anyway.
And they will easily give him at least a month of stay.
He MUST carry a confirmed return ticket for a departure not too long after the conference. They can check the ticket at arrivals.
