B1 visa for applying in Medical Residency Interviews

I am an IMG from Pakistan and I am applying for the Residency match of 2015. I wanted to ask can I apply for B1 visa before i get any interview calls on the basis of ERAS token showing that I have applied for match and will be receiving interviews in due time because I have excellent Step scores? I already got a 1 year B1 Visa last year which I utilised to give my Step 2 CS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated ..

NO. Visa Consular will want to see a real time interview letter(s).

Thank you for your help. So unless and until I have a proper invitation or interview letter I can't apply.?

No one will stop you from applying, but they will just deny you the visa. Why don't you want to wait for the interview letters?

I am worried if I apply for the visa after I get my interview calls I might end up losing the interview due to the time it takes for visa processing
