Asking for extended stay at Port of Entry

Dear Friends,

I have B1 visa and travelling to US for 6 weeks to the Client location. My return ticket is booked for 27-Jun. In all the documents, the duration mentioned is 6 weeks and return date is 27-Jun.

After finishing the Business assignment I just wanted to stay one more week for visiting my relatives. Shall I ask the CBP officer to extend the period of stay by 1 more week during the port of entry?

If i ask like that what will be the impact? Is it possible to change the return date by 1 week in Fly emirates since my ticket is already booked.

Please suggest.

No problem, you can ask IO at POE, that you would like to stay one more week for site seeing.

Generally they give 6months for first time visitors.

You can change your flight ticket according to latest travel plans.
