  • B1 visitor visa

I want to use this medium to thank this forum for the assistance I received prior to obtaining my US B1 visit visa.

On 28 December 2016, I arrived at the US Consulate in Lagos-Nigeria at 6:30am. My appointment was for 7am. All documents were cross-checked to ensure they were correct. DS-160 confirmation slip, receipt from the bank for the visa and appointment confirmation page.

Next we were escorted to the US visa hall where I had the documents earlier mentioned stamped. The officer in charger specifically told me and others on the queue that the only document required for the B1 visa interview was the passport only. Then we were ushered to have our biometric. All these tasks took about 40 minutes.

Then the interview proper; below is the conversation held between the VO and me:

    VO: Passport please
    ME: Sure sir
VO: What's the purpose of your trip?
ME: To attend meetings and company sponsored training session at company's HQ
VO: What state are you visiting?
    ME: Houston, Texas
    VO: Where do you work?
    Me: Bla bla bla
VO: What is your designation and role?
    ME: Snr. Information systems auditor.
I play a lead role in internal & external audits
Design & develop audit procedures and reviews
I recommend and submit reports of identified corrections and controls in need of improvement
    And I head a team of 9
VO: how long have you worked at your company?
    Me: 7 years
VO kept typing, he didn't look at my face. My heart was pounding and I asked myself what other questions might he want to ask, but my mind said dude you are doing well. Next the VO said the **** * words "Your visa has been approved"

Advice: be confident, don't listen to other conversations while at the consulate. No documents were looked at. And practice questions and answers from this forum. I had practiced 12 questions prior to my interview. I had been refused twice before though.
