  • Missed the exit procedure

    Hi Friends,

I am worried as I missed the exit procedure mentioned here https://www.immihelp.com/obim-biomet...us-visa-entry/.

I came from Roanoke, VA and reached Detroit at 6:30pm. I had to hurry up for the next flight to Amsterdam at 7:10pm from a terminal far away. I knew there is some automated procedure for exit. I even asked NWA officials about that and they were not aware of the electronic procedure. They just kept my I94 and directed me to board the plane and I had to skip the procedure for the exit. I even could not find the immigration kiosk near by and was getting late for the next flight.

Now, I'm not sure what would happen to me if I need to go to the US again. There was no stamping while coming back from Detroit and it only happened while entering India at Mumbai.

Please help with you suggestions. What can I do now? and where can I check the status, whether I'm in or out of US as per their database?

    Nihar

@ Nihar even i had the same concers. If the I-94 slip has been removed from ur passport, the NWA officials will hand it over to the emmigration officer..Check my post below.

If you departed after may 6, no need to worry. US VISIT EXIT was a pilot
program at some airports (including detroit) to test the procedure and it ended may 6, 07. Read the Q and A below on the link below.

What do I need to know about departing the United States?
Effective May 6, 2007, international travelers are no longer required to check out at a US-VISIT exit kiosk. All other exit procedures remain the same. International travelers who received a CBP Form I-94 (Arrival Departure Record) upon arrival must still return it to an airline or ship representative when departing the United States. Please see press release for more information.

PS In future always keep a copy of your I 94 to show on your next entry in case there is a problem.
