  • Annotation significance

Hi, I currently have a multiple entry B1 visa (1 year) with an annotation "to take the usmle". I was given this visa because I needed to take the licensure exam (USMLE Step 2) for physicians for postgrad training. I have already made 1 entry to take the exam.

However, I have invitations for interview at training programs next month, can I use the same visa or do I need a new one? I need to return again for my present job after a month. I may travel again after 2 months to take the USMLE Step 3 exam (making the annotation true).

    Anybody with opinions?

I won't have time to apply for a new one since I have to leave in two weeks... Will I be deported?

I don't think you will be deported... in the worst case you will be denied entry.

But since your visa is multiple entry, i would say get a letter from the people who will interview you and evidence that you need to go in order to take your tests. If it is all related to what your annotation say, then it is up to you to convince the Immigration Officer at the Port of Entry.

1 month stay for interviews seems like a long time though?

I have around 10 different interviews in different states, so I'll be travelling extensively for this.. it's part of the application process for postgraduate training, and I'm doing the USMLE for this purpose. However, my exam might not be scheduled for this visit because of the unavailablity of schedule..

Then be prepared to present evidence of this. You need to demostrate how this is link with the purpose for which you were granted a visa.

Thanks for your input Praetorian, I'll try to put something together just so my interviews and my exam are linked, even if I'm not taking it during that visit. I really appreciate this, thanks!!
