B1/B2 Duration on I-94

I got 10 yrs b1/b2 in january last year. I travelled to US in April-2008 to attend a conference just for a week. At the port of entry officer asked me duration and I said I want to stay '9' days and he gave me duration of stay just for 2 weeks on I-94 stamp. I heard usually duration assigned is 3 months for first time visitor.

I am not sure why I got only for 2 weeks. Is this because I told for 9 days ?

I returned on time during my first visit. Now I am goin to visit again to US in next month for 2 weeks.. Less duration assigned during first visit will have any impact on my proposed visit to get 2-3 weeks duration ?

No. Be honest at POE and you will get at least the period that you want.

Yes I had been honest first time too. I arrived one day before conference and left a day after .. So its 9 days which I told at POE. Just wondering why I got only for two weeks and my other friends got 3 months which is usual ?
