  • B1 visa --annotation

    hi,

Am applying for a B1 Business visa, plan to travel to Washington DC, if i do get a visa then i suppose it will have an ANNOTATION stating that the person is visiting Washington DC on a specific date. have two doubts

    1) Does this mean that once in Washington DC, i cant even visit places at a distance of 2-3 hour drive from DC or maybe fly to some other nearby city over the weekend?

    2) Since my invite letter (from my firm in the US) states that its a B1 Business visa application, I don't believe it is prudent to now apply for a B1/B2 visa. Also since my B2 got rejected sometime back, i don't want to reduce my chances of getting a visa by applying for a B1/B2 this time, think am more likely to get a B1 than a B1/B2. Please advise

    thanks in anticipation

    1. Once you are in the country you can travel anywhere domestic. Visas have only date of issue and expiry and yu need to travel any time between those dates.
    2. Its upto you or your company how you want to present the application. It will not have much effect. If you do get it, you generally get it annotated as B1/B2.

      Hi Orion,

Thanks a bunch! May i request your views on another small query about change in situation? Reapplications are encouraged only if there is a change in situation.

My B2 application was rejected in April 09 because of Sec 214 (b). It was a self financed visit, I was not sure of my itinerary, was supposed to stay with a friend, no sponsorship from him.

      1) This time am applying for B1, a different visa category. My firm, a BEP member, has mentioned the following in the invite letter+letter of support - company guarantees that it will give me adequate funds for confirmed accommodation and return transportation, exact date of arrival and departure (10 day visit) is stated, name of the contact person in my company's US firm and that i will not be dependent on the US government during any part of my stay in the US.

      2) For the last 2 years, I have been involved with a NGO, I did not mention it in DS-157 last time, this time i am doing that.

      3) along with my financial asset statement, am also attaching an indicative valuation of my house (tons of supporting docs dont really help though!!)

Do the above 1), 2) and 3) amount to some iota of change in my situation? If its just to the discretion of the VO or as some would say luck , I better chill!

      Thanks in anticipation!!
