Had H1B stamping and need to attend for B1

Hi,

I had H1B stamping validity till 2011 from company ABC but I never travelled to US on this visa hence I did not use it. Now I am working in company XYZ and this employer is trying to process B1 for me. So my concerns are

1. if I go for B1 then my H1B visa remains valid or not ?
2. What should i tell to consulate officer if he asks why you did go on H1B till now ?

Did you go for interview? What happened to your B1 and H1 visa?
