  • B1 Visa DS-160 Questions

I'm a Canadian PR filling in Ds-160 for B1 visa from Canada and had some questions, would appreciate your thoughts.

    1) I selected Canada as PR of country other than country of origin. In the next section, it prompts for National Identification Number. Is this supposed to be Canada PR number or SIN number? Also i'm confused as this section is tied to US SSN.

    2) In travel information, it asks for business conference (b1) or business and tourism (b1/b2). My trip is business but also hoping to use this for future vacations. Is it fine to select b1/b2?

    3) Reg specific travel plans. I haven't made the plan yet. Is it fine to mention no with a tentative date and address?

    4) In last H1B visa was issued in Mexico but this visa will be applied from Canada. There is a question "Are you applying in the same country or location where the visa above was issued, and is this country or location your place of principal of residence?" I selected no but does this matter in terms of dates etc?

Not sure about that, but if you do not have Canadian passport then your country of origin will be the passport you have.

You apply for B1 only, mostly you'll get B1/B2. Ideally, if you want to visit USA later you should apple for B2 later.

What they asking is "Tentative" dates & you should tell them the "Tentative" dates only. USCIS specially mentions not to book travel tickets/hotels, unless you get your visa approved.

Your last visa was H1B & now you are applying for B1. So "No" is the right answer & it doesn't matter in terms of dates.
