Hi,
I have given B1 interview in US Embassy, New Delhi on 12th July, 2010.
The Visa Officer asked me various questions which include:
Q. Why are you going to US?
A. I explained him the reason for visit which are Presentation and training on complex set of existing products and be part of technical design meeting and design sessions on new products which are coming up.
Q. For how long you will stay there?
A. 'For about three months' (specified in my BEP and Invite letter)
Q. Where are you working now?
A. I told him the company name where I am working now. (It is a leading Software MNC with over 24000 employees worldwide)
Q. Since When?
A. I told him 'I am working here since May, this year' i.e 2010
Q Then He asked me about my previous employment?
A. I told that 'Before my current job, I have worked in UK and in India with total experience of about six years. (Also mentioned both company names where I worked earlier. Both are leading Software MNC's)
Q. Where will you stay in US?
A. I told him the state name where I will be going.
Q. Then He asked again whether I will be staying in Hotel or apartment.
A. I humbly apologized in for not understanding previous question and said Yes.
Q. He said " And the expenses will be incurred by company".
A. Yes
Then he said that "We are fine with the interview but we will need some more details regarding you Mr. Singh, Your name would be called in a moment. Please wait for few minutes."
Then he took my Passport and other forms (DS-160, Interview Appointment Letter, BEP Letter, Invitation Letter, and HSBC Slips) inside.
After some time I was called on some other counter and was given a Pink slip (Case suspended under 221 g section written on it) from a lady saying that "Your case need some clarification and you will receive your passport in 2-3 weeks"
Now My questions are:
1. What could be possible reason for handing me Pink slip and delay in giving my visa.
2. In my DS-160 form, I have mentioned ‘Old number’ of my previous employer which is not working now. I worked in this company for about 5 and a half years. So is there any way to rectify the information and send embassy updated information. All the information is correct except this number. I am worried that If they are seeking more details about my previous employment then they will not get those details on provided number and my visa might not be granted instead of being a genuine case. Please help as this is the company from where most of my experience came.
3. As my Last name 'Singh' which is very common sir name, this might be a 'Name Check' verification. I have seen this information on some forums. What does this Name Check mean and can it impact my visa grant.
4. Will the embassy contact me if they do not find any information especially about my previous employment?
As this trip is very important for my carrier any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks and Regards
