  • Canadian entrepreneur denied entry to US.

As a Canadian entrepreneur based in Montreal, I buy merchandise from physical retailers and ship it to Amazon warehouses via UPS, but was recently refused entry to the USA by a customs officer who said I need a work visa. However, when I omegle called the border in August, they said I didn't need a visa because I'm a Canadian-based company and my income is in a Canadian-based bank. I'm confused because on two different days, I received two different outcomes from different customs officers. I've tried contacting owespeedtest the US Consulate in Montreal and Ottawa, but have received no response.

The issue is the distinction between business and work, which can be tricky. B1 business visitor status is for people to conduct, business, but they cannot work. See 9 FAM 402.2-5 for more information on what activities are allowed on B1.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
