  • B1 travel with H1B visa filed

    Hello,

I need urgent advice on traveling to the US on B1 visa next week. My employer however, already has filed a H1B for the FY 2013 in May this year. I wanted to know if there could be a problem at the Port of Entry, where I could be probed about my H1B visa application, while I'm entering on a B1.

I won't be doing any work on a B1 visa, but wanted to know any advice from experts, as to how I should prepare any questions on this.

    Thanks,
    Asheesh

    That is not a problem.
H-1b is anyway a dual intent visa.
People with both visas stamped on their passport can choose to use either one.

The only important thing here is the purpose of visit you mention to the entry officer .
IT must be within the scope of B1/B2. People have been sent back for mentioning
'come for training' ,'for knowledge transfer for 3 /4months'.
Attending seminars , business conferences for 2 -3 weeks are some right purposes.
There is a lot of strictness about misuse of B1/B2 for work by Indian companies.
So be careful what you say at entry.
