  • Citizenship and WILL

    Hello there,

I am 41 and am about to become a citizen hopefully in the next couple of months.... I got a message that my interview and testing is scheduled.

I have written a WILL in India.. (before becoming a citizen). What will be the validity of that WILL once I become a citizen? DO I have to redo it? My wife and mom are my beneficiaries... My wife is a naturalized US citizen and my mom is an Indian citizen.

What will happen if I relinquish US citizenship .... say after 5yrs....

    -Thank you

If you handwrite and sign a new will, that will take precedence over the old one, at least in the US. Why are you asking about relinquishing citizenship already? Hehe. No idea what will happen, but this same new will should still be valid here until you write a new one. You can have it notarised if you like.
