Am I american or not?

hi, i'm new here and it's my first post.
I have a question, I was born in the united states 1986 in Michigan state for a saudi father and an egyptian mother. confusing, ha?.
Do I have the Amercan citizenship already?
the other question is am I allowed to leave the united states without a passport or even a birth certification?
because i live in saudi arabia now but my parents always tell me that i don't have a birth certification nor a passport which is really confusing.
they might be lying to me to get me stay here, so i thought i would ask someone with experience.
I tried the american embassy in Riyadh but they don't answer the phone or reply to my messages.

you are US Citizen, If you got Birth Certificate (if you born here) to Apply for the Passport. Still Minor's has be accompanied by Parent/s when Applying. See http://travel.state.gov/pdf/DS-0011.pdf for elegibility.

You need not necessaily need to have your OWN passport to leave US. You could have been entered on one of your parents passport and accompanied them on their travel back to Saudi.

If you were born in US, there is no doubt that you can claim US citizenship. You should be able to get a birth certificate if you can get details of your birth (Location and time). With this as basis, you should approach the US Embassy in Saudi.
