  • got naturalized 3 years ago and never came back to the USA

    Good day everyone,
i got my american Passport 3 years ago after naturalization.and came back to my husband hometown (my husband is not an american citizen nor has the green card), i gave birth there and could not go back to the USA since then. reason for that -other than giving birth - we (my husband and I) didn't want to go to USA until he finds a decent job over there, and when he did find a good job he applied for Visa Renewal (that was like a year ago) but up till now no answer whatsoever for the American Embassy about his visa case!!
We need to go back to usa to apply for my 3 yrs old son! i did not stay for 5 years in the USA thats why my son has to go to USA in order to get his passport.
my question is..will there be a problem when i enter the USA again after 3 years (i left in Dec 2010) ? my American passport is brand new with no stamps on it at all yet..
will i have a problem with the immigration officers at the airport upon my arrival??

    i hope i made myself clear :/

    Immihelp help please !

all thought and needed and appreciated !

    than you in advance

Once you are naturalized and have a valid U.S. passport, you can return to the U.S. anytime.

Ray B Thx alot...! U know I was just wondering if the immigration will have a problem with the time spent outside the USA even if I have the American passport especially if the time spent out was for years!
But Thx alot Ray B again!

As a citizen, you can stay out of the country for as long as you like, and go back whenever you like.

The only caveat is that your passport is for 10 years, so to come back after 10 years you must renew the passport.

Of course! AS LONG AS YOU LIKE! Unless there's a subpoena, or other reason the US demands that you return, you're scot free.

Sorry, but have to caveat cafreconleche's last comment. A court subpoena cannot force one to return to the U.S., unless it is coupled with an extradition request which is enforceable.

I never said FORCE. I merely meant unless one's return is demanded by a court or government, staying outside won't have consequences.
