My dad is in the process of applying for his citizenship. He has been a resident alien since 1979 however in 1991 we were passing a checkpoint in Salton City CA and he was detained because I was an illegal alien at the time and crossing a check point without the proper documention. At the time I was I was 7 years old, I am now 30 yrs old an I am an US naturalized citizen. We requested the files for that case and it shows that he was transporting illegal aliens. He was not detained, however the car he was driving at the time was seized. I was sent to court in Los Angeles however my dad was not.Would this affect my Dad's eligibility to become a citizen?

Nobody can give you an accurate prediction of the effect on a Naturalization application of a Border Patrol stop 23 years past. Your dad should proceed with his Naturalization application and see how it pans out. You have to assume that USCIS will have access to the record of the incident, but USCIS has options for allowing processing and approval to proceed either immediately or after a specific time period delay.
