What is the advantage for only one to go for US citizenship

Hi all,

My and my wife are eligible for US Citizenship and are debating whether both should go or one of us should go for US Citizenship. Do you see any advantages with latter approach?

If only one applies for Naturalization, you save $680...

You have too much time on your hands to be asking a question like that. It would be more meaningful to ask the "disadvantage" of only one applying for Naturalization. It depends on your country of origin. Some countries have serious issues with their nationals obtaining citizenship in another country, and/or attempting to obtain dual citizenshiip.

For starters, what is your country of citizenship now? Given that information, you might receive some meaningful response about advantages and disadvantages.

By the time both of you die, do you think you will leave more than $10 million in your estate? If not, go for US citizenship for both.
