  • Need Help, totally confused, long story

I will start of by saying im a 28 year old male. I moved to the USA with my parents when I was around a year old. My parents got there citizenship when I was really young(they never applied for me though, I dont know what they were thinking). Naturally being so young I just though because my parents were citizens that I was also.

Fast forward to when I turned 18 my parents and I didnt really see eye to eye so I got married to my wife who is a US citizen, we have a marriage license and have been filing our taxes jointly ever since marriage. We moved to a different state and I never really kept in contact with my parents.

So finally after so many years I finally started talking to my parents again and the conversation about me getting my citizenship came up, of course I though I was one all this time. Will during this time my green card expired cause I though I was a citizen and never even thought to renew it

I guess my question is how would I go about getting my citizenship now, Im totally confused

    So in short

I been living in the USA for 27+ years
my parents and wife are all US citizens
    been married for 10+ years
I had a green card that expired I also have a SS #
I been working since 18 and been filing my taxes every year
I have a US address, driver license insurance, bank account and what not
I also dont have any arrest record
I have never been outside the USA ever since being here

The funny part to all of this is if im not a US citizen then how come my county court just send me a jury summon

Thanks in advance for any advice and sorry for the long post

    AC,

You now seem to be asking why you got a Jury Summons, even though you are not a U.S. citizen. Call the Jury office and tell them you are not a U.S. citizen and that you are ineligible to be on a jury. It's that simple.

I think I replied to an earlier thread when you asked what you could do about your Green Card extension or U.S. citizenship. I responded with some suggested options then, which included: 1. Apply for a 10-year Green Card if you can determine the "A" number you were previously assigned; 2. Apply for a Citizenship Certificate based on your derived citizenship from either parent who Naturalized before you turned age 18.
