I mailed my N-400 with 2 money orders. Is this bad? Will they still accept it?

  • I mailed my N-400 with 2 money orders. Is this bad? Will they still accept it?

Hey guys I am making my first attempt at becoming a US Citizen and did a lot of research and even triple checked everything to make sure it was done correctly...

So when I went to get a money order after I had already paid the guy brings me 2 money orders and said since their maximum is $500 per MO it had to print 2. The total for both is $680 1 is $500 and the other is $180 and I made sure to sign each and out Department of Homeland Security and My A#...I guess my question is are they strict on just one check or MO? Or do they not care as long as it totals $680?

I am sorry if this seems to be a stupid question but I am very nervous and really do not want to delay anything. Thank you for your help guys.

Your experience is not unique. Using two checks (or money orders) is fairly routine for immigration procedures.

Sorry to bump this thread but I am kind of just replying in case someone else has this question and searches for it.

The answer is: As long as the total amount of money orders and/or checks equals the total amount due in fees then it does not matter and they will accept it.
Also make sure they are made out to US Department of Homeland Security with your A# written on each one.
