  • N400 for minors (13 & 17 yrs of age)

Hi everyone! I am almost done with my N400 paperwork. Just wondering if i need a separate N400 form for my minor children? Anyone?

Your minor children need to wait until you get your Naturalization Certificate. You can then apply for their U.S. pasports and/or submit form N-600 to apply for their Citizenship Certificates.

Got a little confused here, Sir Ray. I was just reading about how to apply for a US passport and one of the requirements is evidence of child's U.S. Citizenship. What should i show them?

After you get your Naturalization Certificate, you apply for your U.S. passport and the children's passports at the same time, and you must submit your original Naturalization Certificate with the application (make copies of the Naturalization Certificate for your file first). When the passport applications reach the U.S. passport agency, they will verify your children's eligibility for derived citizenship, then issue U.S. passports.

As an alternative, you may submit form N-600 for each child, and $600 fee for each, for their Citizenship Certificates, then later apply for their U.S. passports.

My advice is to apply for their passports first, at the same time you apply for your U.S. passport.
