Processing time

I am eligible to apply for Naturalization but we are planning to go on a vacation in another 4 / 6 months.

If I file the application now ( am in NY ), When will we be called for the Finger printing & then for the Interview. I would like to get a view on the complete procesing time. Could someone in the forum help me ?

I read that 'if someone reschedules the Interview / Finger printing' then that person(s) will have wait for a quite bit of time. As it is, I have waited for 5 yrs to get GC & do not want undergo that pain.

New York is processing N-400 as of April 2005 right now. I applied in michigan in september and have not taken any vacations since because once you miss the dates for fingerprinting or interview, it is a big hassle. If I were you, I would wait until after the vacation.
