Hey! I tried searching for a similar thread but I couldn't find any (or I just didn't look hard enough)
Im about to head into the Army through something called the MAVNI program. All but my little brother are non citizens of the US, and I want to help my parents become naturalized once I'm able to sponsor them for citizenship.
However, I also would like to change my last name. Let's overlook all the "personal" issues about family names (it's okay with them anyways), and let's focus on the main questions I have...
Would it complicate the naturalization process of my parents? What other complications would I run into (social security, drivers license, medical records etc.)
I REALLY really want my parents to become citizens too, but I don't want to unintentionally complicate it to the point where it'll be delayed. Extra paperwork is okay, but TOO much extra time isn't (they're not very patient).
My side question is when would I be able to sponsor them for citizenship?
I am currently turning 20 in about a month.
