It depends on what specific issues are being reviewed and whether USCIS has to allocate staff for an external investigation.
Could be two weeks to several months. A decision may be required, by USCIS regulations, to be completed within a a year or so (not sure) but I knew an Iranian whose paperwork was squeaky clean and it took 18 months for him to be called for an interview. That could very well have been a "political" delay.

N400 question 46
Hi, I'm very confused with question 46. Im 35 I came when I was 18 in 1998 ans I'm a permanent resident since. I've never registered for selective services.
"Are you a male who lived in the United States at any time between your 18th and 26th birthday? (this does not include living in the united states as a lawful nonimmigrant.)"
I appreciate any help and thank you in advance.

Jon,
If you did not register for the Selective Service before you turned 26, you may have a problem at the interview and might be denied. You should contact the Selective Service and get a "Status Letter," which might keep your application from being denied. Go to : https://www.sss.gov/Home/Registration It might be that someone registered for you, so follow the instructinos at the SSS website.
