Unable to make interview before Age Out of child

I am a US citizen living in Australia with my child who was born here, but turning 18 in two months. Can anyone tells me if I should proceed with form N600 to get him US citizenship if we definitely will not be able to be in the US for the interview process before he turns 18?

You don't have to worry about someone turning 18, but turning 21.
