  • Question related to N-400 Application - PLEASE ANSWER THIS

    Hello Everyone,

I applied for my wife's citizenship based on our marriage. She has been in US since Aug 2013 and her Green Card was renewed last year in 2015 for 10 years. Our Citizenship application was accepted on 6/26/2016 and since then, there hasn't been any update.

We are yet to receive a Bio metric appointment. I have read on this forum that people have usually received their Bio Metric Appointment within a month of application getting accepted by USCIS. Should I be worried?

    PLEASE PROVIDE SOME FEEDBACK.

    THANK YOU.

    Manthan,

    Was your check cashed?
Did you receive a text or email confirmation? Did you receive a hardcopy receipt Notice of Action?
Did you check the receipt number on the USCIS status website? https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

You can schedule an INFOPASS live appointment at a USCIS office to have an officer verify status of Biometrics appt. Go to: https://my.uscis.gov/appointment

          Hello Ray,

Thanks so much for this info. Can you please tell me whether it is possible to not get a BioMetrics appt. and directly an interview is scheduled? Is this even a possibility?

          Thanks again.

It happens, but at the interview you will be directed to get Biometrics before the interview can proceed.

Okay. Reason I am saying is because my wife had Biometrics appt last year during Green Card Renewal process. So I thought She may not get one during citizenship process.

I know it takes anywhere from 3-5 months after sending the application to USCIS in order to get an interview call. Maybe I will wait another month. Do you think that's okay?

              Thanks.

Having completed a Biometrics requirement for a previous immigration procedure has nothing to do with the Biometrics requirement for Naturalization. Wait another month before requesting an INFOPASS appt

                  Hi Manthan,
You should receive a biometrics appointment within a month. Three months is unusual. I'd recommend that you speak to a USCIS officer at an Infopass appointment.

                    Thanks for the feedback.

My wife and I called USCIS on Tuesday and told them that we have not received a Bio Metric Appt and it has been more than 30 days since we received the receipt from USCIS stating that our application has been accepted.

Rep on the phone said that we should get an update within 15 days. Is this really true? Should we finally expect a letter with Biometric Appt?

                    Thanks.

The 15-day report you received by phone could reflect a service order being placed by the operator or it could just be a "feel good" answer to delay having to check your biometrics status.

Check the USCIS online status page at: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/mycasestatus.do about once a week for any upates regarding mail being returned or Biometrics appointment being missed.

                        Hi Ray,

Rep on the phone told me that she is putting a service order for not receiving biometric appt since it has been more than 30 days. I am really hoping to hear something by mail within a week or so. I hope I am not wrong.

                        Thanks.

                          Hi Ray,

I called USCIS on 9/13/2016 that I have not received a Bio Metrics Appointment. Rep on the phone told me that she is creating a service order and also provided a number (sort of confirmation number) and was told that I should get an update within 15 days.

I noticed that in "myUSCIS" account on 9/20/2016, this particular service order number was assigned to an officer for a response. However, two days later, (9/22/2016), status changed again and it shows that this service order number is not currently assigned for processing.

What is going on with my case? Should I be worried? I called USCIS again last Thursday that and rep told me that even though you have a service order on file, it can take up to 30 days for an officer to response.

I am all confused. I hope you can provide some answers. Thanks a lot.

If your Biometrics has not been completed by the date of your interview, the officer will just schedule one for you, as the final approval/processing for your Naturalization cannot be completed until the law enforcement database report, from submittal of your biometrics info, comes back.

                              Thank you Ray.

So, If I understand correctly, we may possibly see a letter directly with the interview date in near future? And I shouldn't worry about not getting a Bio Metric Appt?

                              Thanks again for your help
