Hello! I need some help. My wife is a Permanent Resident, and has been one for 10+ years. We are starting the process to obtain her US Citizenship. She is from Mexico. We got married here in the US before starting any kind of immigration process whatsoever. We were pretty much ignorant of the law at the time, and thought it would be fairly easy to do after we were married. So, we kind of put it off for a few months, and a year or so later, she crossed the border to visit family. On her way back, she was not admitted. Long story short, she had to move back home and apply for the proper Visa. It took two approximately years, and at first she was denied residency. We then had to file for a waiver, which was approved. My question has to do with acknowledgement of this on the N-400 form. We can't remember when exactly all this happened, and don't really know if we must report this or not. If so, where can we find records? I'm not even sure if an "official" action was taken against her. There was no court or anything, she was simply told that she could not enter the country. But they also required her to file for a waiver to be admitted, so there has to be something filed. I'm just not sure how to proceed correctly, to avoid filing wrong information, etc.

Tom,
Since she eventually had a legal entry to the U.S., as a precursor to getting a Green Card, the only problem you are likely to encounter is explaining during the interview what happened before she got her Green Card.
