When can I apply for citizenship?

Hi I've been married with US citizen for four years, and living in US for 2 years and 9 months. I have applied for permanent green card almost a year ago but still it's under process. Can I still apply for citizenship? Or I'd must wait for permanent green card? Thanks in advance.

Update: I have talked to the customer service today (I didn't know this service exists, I thought it's not possible to reach them) and they have confirmed I can apply for citizenship, although it's a must to have my permanent card approved which is in process right now and it has to be approved before they approve by citizenship application. They also told me, if I apply for citizenship, it will actually expedite my permanent card application process. Thanks.

My question is similar to you. I have my 2 year GC on 01/31/2014 and my husband didn't gain his citizenship until 05/12/2014. I know I cannot apply for citizenship until 02/12/2017 ( 2 yrs 9 mths after my husband had his citizenship ). I'm kind of nervous now since the new president has so many hatred over immigrant, so I want to get the citizenship asap. The thing is it took them forever to give me the 10 yrs GC, can I be able to apply for N400 without the 10 yrs GC? It's over a year now and I havent received the 10 yrs GC yet!

Hi, they have customer service center who provides all the information, explain them your scenario and ask them what you want to know, I'm sure they will give you the answer like they gave mine

My scenario is my spouse is citizen and it's been 2 year and 9 month's I'm living in US, still have temporary Green Card, waiting for permanent one. Still I'm eligible to apply, they will expedite my application for permanent card (customer service told me this), if it gets approve, they will process my N400 application as well.
