  • Travel after applying for citizenship

I applied for citizenship at the Phoenix office a couple of weeks back.
Am I right in assuming that I should get a notice for biometrics soon and that I can travel out of the country with my green card after that?

    Thanks!

You can travel and it will not affect your naturalization unless you interrupt your continuous residence by being absent for more than 6 months.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

You can, but you'll need to update your N-400 at the interview.

It is wise, in my OPINION, to avoid doing anything to change your N-400 between the time of application and the time of the interview since the interviewers can be a little grumpy about entering too many updates/amendments. If the travel is unexpected/emergency then, sure, but if you're just hopping across the border casually then you're complicating your naturalisation application for no good reason and should have planned better before you applied.

So, yes, you CAN take short trips. But best practice would be to apply when you have nothing going on for the next six or seven months.
