  • How to count the days in N400

    Hi,

A simplified case, if one leaves the country yesterday and return today, does it count as 1 or 2 days outside of US? Thanks a lot!

USCIS will count the day that an applicant departs from the United States and the day he or she returns as days of physical presence within the United States for naturalization purposes

In the case of your hypothetical question, the applicant has spent 0 days outside the United States

Thanks a lot! Then I am over-counting the number of days. E.g. AirTicket shows departing on March 1st and returning on March 15th, then I should put "Departure March 1st" and "Returning March 15th" and total number of days out of US be 13 (instead of 14). Is that right?

Correct, that would be consistent with the USCIS Policy Manual on this topic https://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/H...-Chapter4.html
