Need Proof of residency for work and Need to travel GC expiring soon.

My 10 years GC will be expiring on November 2017.I have applied for citizenship on 01/17 and got fingerprints on 02/17. Due to the fact that the interview won't be scheduled until Nov or Dec or even later, I would like to know:
- Should I also apply for GC renewal this month as I will need to show proof of it for my work? If not what document can i get to show for work?
- We have a family wedding by the end of the year and I have to be there. What document should I have with me in case the interview is not scheduled yet? I-551 Stamp or I-131? Or which documents that allow me to come back?

If the N-400 is accepted, no need to apply for green card renewal. Just go in and get an I-551 stamp.

What is preventing you from renewing your GC. The GC is your status and official record until you get a US Passport
