Hi. My fiance just gave birth to our son here in the Philippines. We're preparing his CRBA file and have a couple of questions.
1. As part of my responsibility to show that I've resided time in the US, I have my university transcripts, but these fall short of the five years that I need. To get the other few months to meet the requirement, I have a copy of my mothers 2001 tax returns which show that I was a dependent of hers. On this form is specifically asks if I have lived with her for 12 months in the US at her known address. Can I use this as proof that I've lived in the US?
2. This is for anyone with knowledge of the Philippines NSO and in getting a baby's birth certificate.
Getting my son's birth certificate from the NSO, which is the only place the embassy will accept it from, has been a struggle. We have a copy of the civil registrar's certificate, but this isn't admissible for the CRBA. We've gone to the NSO and have been told that we can't get a copy of the PAPER birth certificate for A YEAR, which is what we need to process US citizenship. Instead, they offer us some dubious electronic copy that takes 30 working days to get. Does anyone have any experience is presenting an electronic copy of a birth certificate as part of a CRBA here in the Philippines? If not, doesn't it sound odd that we'd have to wait an entire year to get a paper copy which should be registered with them by next month?
Thoughts on these two questions would be most welcome!
Thanks!
Jesse
