  • Application for Naturalization Questions

    Hi Guys,

    I wanted to first off thank the forum for providing such great answers and feedback. It really helps a lot.

    I will be applying for my citizenship through naturalization in a few weeks and I had some questions.
    I am applying because I will be soon 5 years on my green card. (I am applying 90 days before the 5 year rule.)

    I checked the document checklist and it says that the application needs the (1) copy of front and back of green card;
    (2) check for 725$ and (3) photos only if you reside outside US. I live in New Jersey, so it means I don't need to
    send any photos, correct?

    Also, the instructions to fill N400 form says that I need to send marriage certificate if any. I am married and my wife
    just got her green card as well. So do I need to send our marriage certificate? She is not applying for citizenship.

    Finally, I wanted to ask about a traffic ticket I got around 2013. I got a ticket for going straight when I was in
    a "must turn right" lane. I paid the fine and also had 3 points which went away after 3 years. I have just got another
    parking ticket in that time. Do I need to mention this on my N400 form? Specifically as an answer to the question:

    "Have you EVER been arrested, cited or detained by any law-enforcement officer for any reason?".

    Does getting a traffic ticket constitute as a citation?

    Answers to the questions above will be really helpful.

    Thanks again and I wish everybody luck in their journey.

    I wanted to add that the ticket I got was in Feb 2013 and it was 87$ ticket (just looked up in my credit card statement).
    I was in the right lane must turn right and went straight ahead instead (it was dark and couldn't see this).

    Please let me know if I have to answer "yes" to the question on being "cited by a law enforcement officer". Thanks!
