  • Making correction/edits?

    Hi

I just filed online few days ago and after reading forums etc realized I should have reported traffic tickets which I didn't. What is the process for making this change, I saw option for typographic error online but what about making changes like this?

Should I upload ticket/payment document in additional documents and later correct the 'record' during interview that I had missed reporting the ticket in the form, and I uploaded the ticket in additional documents once I realized the omission? Or is there a better strategic time to bring this up so as not to slow/delay the application processing and/or creating any risk/

I paid ticket and did traffic school, and I also got a ticket a long while back that I will have to dig up somehow but both cases it was <$500. The older ticket was red light camera ticket (should that be included? It was mailed and not given by officer).

    thanks for any info/help

IMHO, this is no big deal, but it may be to the immigration officer. Who knows.

I would go to the Department of Motor Vehicles (you can get an appointment online) and get a list of all your traffic tickets. The cost is about $5.00 or $10.00. I would bring the list in and and explain about the citations.
Bring a new page of the N-400 and ask if you have to change your answer on the new page, just in case. Most likely, you won't have to. You will probably just have to explain the minor tickets, focus on the fact that the fines were paid and you went to traffic school.
You will have to explain in English. If you tell the truth and show the documentation, this should not be a problem.

Just my opinion, but I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked DMV (California) and found I can do "Drive Record Request" form by mail/in-person for $5 or do it online for $2. I did it online and got the record right away, but it actually does not show any tickets at all. Not sure if it is only meant to show the tickets that actually got saved on record (i.e. in my case I did traffic school so they don't put them on record?). Either way, here is all it said (excluding the normal DL info dump in the beginning).

      LICENSE STATUS:
      VALID*
      DEPARTMENTAL ACTIONS:
      NONE*
      CONVICTIONS:
      NONE*
      FAILURES TO APPEAR:
      NONE*
      ACCIDENTS:
      NONE*
      END
