  • No Citizenship Application Fee?

One of my students qualified for the low income free citizenship exam. How little do you have to make to qualify for this?
She had failed the exam 4 times prior to coming to our class. When I asked her how much money she had spent application fees, she said zero. She said she was low income.
I didn't feel comfortable asking her too many personal questions, so I am coming here to hopefully get some answers.
Can you provide a link with the information? I would like to assist others who are also low income with the information.

    Thank you!

it's just like the ACA individual mandate, where if you are at 150% or lower than the federal poverty limit then in the case of the individual mandate you are exempt from said penalty, in the case of citizenship fees, you can apply for a waiver, but there's no guarantee that it will be approved. Please see the attached link for further information https://www.uscis.gov/feewaiver
This is strictly an opinion and should not be misconstrued as legal advice. The use of this information is strictly at your own risk.

It may be worth a try. I just wonder if it is frowned upon.
