  • citizenship interview done but decision cannot be made

I had my interview in may 2018 and was told I passed the test and I will be sent the decision in mail with in 4 weeks, as the jo said he will forward to the supervisor and everything was fine with my file no doubts, but no reply till now. I was very worried what is going on why so much delay in process. please give me some suggestions how to handle the situation.
The Jo mentioned I had along travel history and he couldn't take decision but for him everything seems good and he will write for approval of the citizenship. I didn't travel exceeding their criteria of stay.

You might want to call the USCIS customer service number and also make an infopass appointment to speak with someone at your field office.

Good question. But, your case was with the IO who interviewed you. At that time s/he could not make a decision without consulting a supervisor and hence told you whatever they are required to. The IO also indicated that you would be informed of their decision within a certain time frame. Therefore, you are well within your rights to inquire if a decision has been made. I wouldn?t sit around waiting for them to get to it. Worse case, assuming that there were no serious problems in the application, they will say no and you can reapply when you meet all criteria.

Thanks for the support and I did called the uscis customer service today and asked about my case status and I asked the agent stating that I was told I will be receiving the oath letter with in 4 weeks and I had my interview on may 8th so I was wondering did I miss my letter or what was the update. Then he asked my receipt number and said that yes your were in process of n400 and so far u completed 76 days, as there is timeline of 120 days and you can wait till 9o days , if you didn't get any letter even after 90 days then contact us, we will contact the field office then.

so I said so the decision cannot be revealed to me on phone and he said no and I said thank you and hung up. He mentioned you will receive your letter and didn't not say anything needed in addition to my case. I hope everything is fine until now.

In that case, you can either wait for two more weeks or if it is feasible, make an infopass appointment and speak to an officer at your field office. Hang in there.

First, this post appears to be inconsistent with your original post. The request for a marriage certificate suggests that everything was not "fine" with your application at the time of the interview and that a crucial document was missing from it. Did they ask you for marriage license/certificate at the interview? You are supposed to submit a copy with the N400 if you are married at that time; or inform the officer and provide a copy if your marital status has changed after you submitted the application. I recommend that you send them the documents they have asked for. Follow all instructions in the RFE that you received.

I filed it through lawyer to make sure everything right and they said I don't need to present marriage certificate, when I went to my interview, I was told everything looks great with my application and I had nothing to submit at that time and I was informed that they have to look through my travel history and he didn't mention a single word about my marriage certificate. He asked me where and when did u get married and I told everything and even then also he didn't mention or ask me to submit my certificate I would have done right then and there, if he did mention to me. I know I should have been extra careful about my application and depending on lawyer made me go through all this, I was not expecting this but atleast now I have sent my document with the letter do lets hope atleast it goes on fine now.

all they asked me was my marriage certificate which I would have given right then and there if he asked me without any hesitation.
yes I mailed my document copy with the letter attached to it and hope everything will be ok.

It appears as if your lawyer was not attentive to the details. Moral of the story: always read before signing and submitting. It is also possible that during interview, the IO did not notice that a copy of the marriage certificate was not included. Hopefully once they get it, you will get a positive decision.
