  • Oath Ceremony De-Scheduled

I received a letter to attend the oath ceremony in October, but two days later I received another letter saying I was de-scheduled. I read online and this seems to be quite common.

I decided to follow up given that the USCIS online and phone system kept telling me that I am still to attend the oath ceremony.

I called USCIS main line, they said I am supposed to attend the oath ceremoney and that they had no other update, but said that they could escalate my case to an officer to see if I was de-scheduled. An officer followed up, and he said that the latest update he has is that I am in line for oath and that he cannot give me any other information. He recommended I talk to the local office to get the clarity I need.

I have been trying to schedule an info-pass appointment for the past week, with no luck.

The oath ceremony is in a week.

    1. Does anyone know if 1) the DC/Virginia office can take a walk-ins since I was not able to schedule for an info pass appointment?
    2. Anyone been through a similar experience? Any idea about the process.

My interview and approval came through exactly three months ago. The ceremony is taking place next week.

That's bit of weird. Did you get the letter in the regular mail. Would you mind cover the personal information and post the letter so we can better help you? And as far as I know you can just walk in at the Fairfax office. I have done it once for passport stamps before.

Thank you for the walk-in advice. That's useful to know. I also want to note that InfoPass appointmnets opened up last week on Friday.

On my issue, well, it turns out that they re-scheduled me for a court nearby. Perhaps because of my name change. But luckily the court is like couple of blocks away so it was a good outcome.
