Citizenship Taking Too Long

I don't know if anyone has this problem. I filed for citizenship almost 2 years ago. I passed everythign but they are still waiting for my background check to be finished. It's been so long. I am so frustrated. I want to bring my fiance but it's going to be 2 years since we have seen each other in January. Is anyone else having this problem of waiting? Do you know if there is a maximum time they take?

It might depend from which state you filed from. I know my son filed in Michigan, he got his citizenship in 9 months after he sent his application in. He also had a background check done on him.

In Illinois, my friend received his in 6 months, but he didn't have to go through a background check.

As afar as I know, every applicant for residence and certainly for citizenship goes through a background check.......how else could they determine whetehr someone has anyhting that would make them ineligile.

I remember my son had to go through additional verification. He was required to provide additional prove of residence and his educational status.
