• Initial Questions for applying citizenship.

    Hi
I will have completed 5 years of stay by april first week 2007 after my green card. So I think I can apply for my citizenship. However I wanted to share a few questions.

--Can I apply for citizenship now (4 years 10 months)
--I changed quite a few jobs in the last 5 years,is it any way a disadvantage.
--We both work, so there will no one during the day time as no one will be there to pick the call.So is it ok to give the home phone number. I can give my cell, but I am planning to switch carriers soon.

--Part10B, Question 8a : What do we answer for the question "Have you ever been a member of or associated with any organization, association, fund foundation, party, club, society or similar group in the United States or in any other place?". Does it mean, any employee funds or YMCA clubs etc. Do we need to mention them.

--Questions 13 &14, it talks about the being called yourself as a nonresident on a federal, state or local tax return? what is being nonresident.

--Questions 34 to 39 regarding the constitution, allegiance etc, I have answered Yes. Do we need to necessarily answer Yes and what are the implications.

Approximately when will I get notified after I apply.

I would really appreciate if someone can share their thoughts on the above questions.

    Thanks much.

    hi

I just became a usc so I might be able to answer some of your questions:

--Can I apply for citizenship now (4 years 10 months)
you can apply 90 days prior your five years as a permanent resident so, yes, you can apply.

--I changed quite a few jobs in the last 5 years,is it any way a disadvantage.
that shouldn't be a concern.

--We both work, so there will no one during the day time as no one will be there to pick the call.So is it ok to give the home phone number. I can give my cell, but I am planning to switch carriers soon.
it's pretty unlikely they will actually call you. Even if you switch carriers, just take your old cell number with you, it's free of charge last time I checked.

--Part10B, Question 8a : What do we answer for the question "Have you ever been a member of or associated with any organization, association, fund foundation, party, club, society or similar group in the United States or in any other place?". Does it mean, any employee funds or YMCA clubs etc. Do we need to mention them.
I would just list whichever club or organization you belong too, even if it's a YMCA.

--Questions 13 &14, it talks about the being called yourself as a nonresident on a federal, state or local tax return? what is being nonresident.
A nonresident is a tourist or illegal alien.

--Questions 34 to 39 regarding the constitution, allegiance etc, I have answered Yes. Do we need to necessarily answer Yes and what are the implications.
I would suggest to answer with Yes to any of these questions. I think implications might be that you are being denied citizenship.

          Hi sa2006,
where did you see the A#. Please provide information correctly and only if you know it for sure. Because I posted another thread which says, citizens do not have A#.
          Thanks.
