I don't understand when can I apply for citizenship. I just received my green card, but I've been married to USA citizen for 5 years.
On eligibility sheet it states:Eligibility: An applicant for citizenship must be at least 18 years of age, and must have resided continuously in the U.S. as a Legal Permanent Resident for at least five years prior to filing. Permanent residents who have been married to a U.S. citizen for three years are eligible to apply for citizenship.
Well my green card process was much longer and it happens that after 1st year of marriage my husband became a USA citizen. After that I've been living in USA for 4 years waiting on my green card ...married with USA citizen. He is also in the military.
Am I eligible to start naturalization process now or is it too good to be true? Do I need to wait 3 years after green card? It makes a big difference to me,because I want to sponsor my parents and then my parents could sponsor my sister before she turns 21.
Can someone help me please with suggestions?
