  • Am I eligible for citizenship?

My mom is a Green card holder since August 99. Since then, she lived in the US continously for three years and four months before she went back to her home country for eight months. She came back to the U.S and stayed for three months and back home again for nine months. Lastly she came back to the U.S for two years and went back again six month ago and she is planning to come back before the end of the year.

To get to the point, does she meet the requirement for continous residency?

Apart from this, she has a clean excellent record, she was even chosen to be in a jury list. Is she eligible for citizenship?

    Thanks,

I am not sure if she can be a eligible. I had applied for my deceased father and i remember it was exactly 180 days in 5 years residency, which is the requirement to apply for USC.

as far as I know, you must continously reside in usa for 5 years before applying for USC. if you exceed the limit of residing abroad, your Citizenship eligibility gets delayed by about 2 yrs I think...

You can double check by look at N400 form. They have a calculation process descired..

    good luck
