  • N-400 Question

On the application it asks for every trip outside the US since I got my green card. I have been living in the US with a Green Card/Resident Alien for 25 years.

I can't recall the exact dates of all the trips I took over these 25 years

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to answer this section of the Citizenship application??

    Any help would be appreciated.

Wow. I can't say I have ever heard of such a situation - 25 yrs. on a GC! Talk to an attorney. I really think that's your best bet.

Try going thru you passport(s). It usually has all the stamps of when you arrived in the US. If you did travel to India you can check those dates and reduce 2 days of travel to determine the date you left US.

      All the best.

        N-400 Question

My mom and I moved here when I was 12 and I never thought about getting my citizenship until now - thus the 25 years.

I do not have my expired passports - so cannot use them to review the trips I took

Does anyone know where I can find a reputable para-legal in Los Angeles to help me answer this question?

        Any help would be appreciated

The N-400 application asks for only last 5 yrs of history, which you should have on your current passport.

            Need similar help

My problem is similar. I know we only need 5 years of history, but is it better to leave the information blank?

Is there any govt office to contact to get records of this? I have 52 days to account for!

Be as accurate as possible but ...

Be as accurate as possible Try to be as accurate as possible. You don't have to be 100% but should try your best to get your previous records.

If you cannot find them, that's fine, USCIS will not have a problem as long as you show them your current travel properly.

Also, they ask for information but not the documents to show any proof of travel.

For example, if you drive to Canada from USA and drive back while spending only cash in Canada, there is no way you will have any proof of travel.

So don't worry, just be honest and truthful. If you wish you can also attach a separate letter stating the facts.

              Good luck.

                green card scans

so there is not an office to contact to get a report from each time they swiped the green card at the border?

All you have to provide last 5-years records. Please read the form N-400 Instructions for part 7 (Time Outside the United States Including Trips to Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean).
